Untold Improv in partnership with Provocation Theater brings you a juicy three-part series this Fall - Ritualizing Improv.
Since 2017, Untold Improv has focused on cultivating spaces for the stories and experiential wisdom of communities of color to take the front of the stage.
In its current evolution, Untold Improv will partner with Provocation Theater to offer a three-part series to weave together the sacredness of ritual with the playfulness of improv. As marginalized communities face massive poly-crises, how do we bring in what is happening in the streets onto the stage? How can we channel the power of improv to make sense of the perpetual grief, rage, and fear that lives inside our bodies? Improv can create containers for us to somatically move through what is unspoken through deep presence. We all need to expand our capacity to be with the hard stuff right now. This workshop series offers a soft landing place for BIPOC interested in practicing politicized improv, ritual, and somatics. No prior experience necessary. We invite your curiosity and your creativity.
Each session will focus on a specific Earthly element: water, fire, air to guide us into a space of ritual and creativity. We will work with whatever rises up in the space to transmute and transform it together.
PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A BIPOC CLASS.
We hope students will join for all (3) class meetings, if you have scheduling accomodations, please email kat@provocationtheatre.com
