This advanced workshop will focus on how to do scene work that's about something you feel strongly about. Satire can accidentally be offensive when it's vague or fall flat by being preachy. We'll create a safe space to fail, share what we believe in, and learn how to initiate and support a message in a way that feels fun, funny, and meaningful!
In “Improv 4 Good” we’ll ask a lot of questions and try to answer them with experimental exercises, scenework, and a little group sharing. If you’ve ever asked any of these… this class is for you!
- What parts of improv culture does the rest of the world need?
- There are parts of my lived experience I don’t see reflected in improv. Why?
- How can my team do improv that better aligns with our values? (...but NOT be preachy!)
- Can you safely do improvised satire?
This advanced class is recommended for folks that have been doing improv consistently for at least a year, and will be especially useful for people who are on indie teams or want to start one!
Note that this class is pay what you can so no one will be turned away for lack of funds! You’ll get an email about payment options within a week of signing up.
