Provocation Theatre was founded in 2023 with the mission to uplift creative performance through laughter, community, + heart.

Bring your new ideas home. This is the space to try: try out, try on, try something new. As the Bay Areas’s only boutique improv experience, we are adept at delivering an elevated creative mission. We proudly bring new community members up while challenging longstanding members to define their artistic pillars.

Our training staff is diverse + brings unique voice to every class we teach. We are a loving + kind space and our teachers are the light of what we offer. We work with the best to bring you the best. Always.

We feature one performance track house team yearly and three affinity house teams: Globalls (bipoc/global majority), All Queer No Fear (queerfem+), and The Niners (improv for 49+). 

Our shows raise the standard of performance. We are Provocation, and our shows will do just that: Provoke. By amplifying historically forgotten voices, empowering those that are in the mission of art, and providing clear and easy ways to move through the artistic life cycle (student, performer, facilitator, coach, teacher) our energy is fluid, kinetic, and always asking: What’s Now.

We are the proud host of Yas! And festival: a queer forward comedy festival in July. 

We partner with local 5103cs for give back shows primarily focused on: immigration, women’s rights, gay rights, and the elderly. We are proudly queer and fem owned, operated, and forward space.
